Note 1
Genesis 15:2 KJV [2] And Abram said, Lord GOD, what wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus? https://bible.com/bible/1/gen.15.2.KJV
Childlessness is very very painful. This was to be the number one test for the father of faith. Not anything else, think 🤔 of it.
In order to qualify for the father of faith, the test was Childlessness. Inability to fulfil the dominion mandate of fruitfulness 🥝
Note 2
Lord what will thou give me… Nothing was to be compared to a child. Abraham would rather lose everything and have a child and start building his wealth afresh than to die without one and to leave his inheritance for his servant.
It is a very painful thing to die childless. Lord help 😣
Genesis 15:6 KJV [6] And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness. https://bible.com/bible/1/gen.15.6.KJV
AMEN
Genesis 15:11 KJV [11] And when the fowls came down upon the carcases, Abram drove them away.https://bible.com/bible/1/gen.15.11.KJV
Another typical example of not making assumptions when It comes to spiritual things.
He could have assumed that since God gave him the order, he could just lay the birds 🐦 and animals out in the open and God would himself protect them.
That would have been a wrong assumption and we often get hurt as believers because of the many wrong assumptions we make
Genesis 15:18 KJV [18] In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates: https://bible.com/bible/1/gen.15.18.KJV
“Have I given this land” not “will I give”. He had handed it over officially, all other occupants were just waiting for their lease to run out
