Genesis 17:1 KJV [1] And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect. https://bible.com/bible/1/gen.17.1.KJV
I am Elshadai, walk before me and be blameless. I am the almighty God. This I believe is the first time God is introducing Abram to His covenant name of Elshadai.
Genesis 17:1 KJV [1] And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect. https://bible.com/bible/1/gen.17.1.KJV
Could God appearing here refer to an open vision? What form did God take? It was no longer the word of the lord coming to Abraham or Abraham hearing the word of the lord as we see previously but It was now the lord appearing
Genesis 17:2 KJV [2] And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly. https://bible.com/bible/1/gen.17.2.KJV
I guess at this age and time ⌚, Abraham was getting tired 😴 of this routine of promises. No wonder he laughed later on in this discourse.
Genesis 17:4 KJV [4] As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations. https://bible.com/bible/1/gen.17.4.KJV
I like that, God sounds so much like a man, He says” As for me” Hmm
iGenesis 17:6 KJV [6] And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee. https://bible.com/bible/1/gen.17.6.KJV
I’m sure at this stage promises like these of exceeding fruitfulness were beginning to sound like stories of Ananse(A folklore here ghana). He had only one child and was ninety-nine years of age for crying out loud. Why was God keeping up this game?
Genesis 17:22 KJV [22] And he left off talking with him, and God went up from Abraham.https://bible.com/bible/1/gen.17.22.KJV
And he left talking… God had appeared to Abraham I believe in human Form. As is repeated later under the mamre tree. Likely this was in a quiet 🤫 location when God appeared to him.
Genesis 17:23 KJV[23] And Abraham took Ishmael his son, and all that were born in his house, and all that were bought with his money, every male among the men of Abraham’s house; and circumcised the flesh of their foreskin in the selfsame day, as God had said unto him.
The promptness with which Abram obeyed God is worth emulating.
The heathen and pagans so fear their gods and obey them. Yet we the sons of the kingdom 👑 are not apt in obeying the voice of the lord.
Thus its wisdom 🤔 for me
