Deuteronomy 8

And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.
Deuteronomy 8:3 KJV COMMENTARY MEANING https://bible.com/bible/1/deu.8.3.KJV

So in essence in the absence of food, water and the essential of life, the word and commands of God remain constant.

Even if life happens as it does to us all and lack comes, the word of God, the rule 📐 of God over our life and condition does not change.

Many times when Israel 🇮🇱 was tempted they threatened to boycott the mission and go back to Egypt where they would serve other gods.

And same Happens to us in our walk with the lord.

Compromises as life hits at us, dishonest gain, greed, lusts just so we can get by or thrive at the expense of others and the word of God https://bible.com/bible/1/deu.8.3.KJV

a land wherein thou shalt eat bread without scarceness, thou shalt not lack any thing in it; a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose hills thou mayest dig brass.
Deuteronomy 8:9 KJV COMMENTARY MEANING https://bible.com/bible/1/deu.8.9.KJV

Oh so these sufferings was just to be for two years and from there they would eat bread without scarcity but alas they did not enter the land and wondered for 40 years.

How many of us are in a season of wondering and are going about in circles because of disobedience.

When it reality our journey of difficulties was to be for just two ✌️ years.

Hmm 🥹, lord help 😣.. Help us. https://bible.com/bible/1/deu.8.9.KJV

Beware that thou forget not the LORD thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and his judgments, and his statutes, which I command thee this day:
Deuteronomy 8:11 KJV COMMENTARY MEANING https://bible.com/bible/1/deu.8.11.KJV

Commandments, judgements and statutes though subtley different are in a broad sense commandments because they are commands to be followed https://bible.com/bible/1/deu.8.11.KJV

then thine heart be lifted up, and thou forget the LORD thy God, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage;
Deuteronomy 8:14 KJV COMMENTARY MEANING https://bible.com/bible/1/deu.8.14.KJV

Moses knew that both affliction and abundance can lure us to drift away from God https://bible.com/bible/1/deu.8.14.KJV

and thou say in thine heart, My power and the might of mine hand hath gotten me this wealth. But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.
Deuteronomy 8:17‭-‬18 KJV COMMENTARY MEANING https://bible.com/bible/1/deu.8.17-18.KJV

The human heart can be deceptive and foolish. After all these journeys with God, the heart still run the risk of attributing success to self.

Self made men they would have called themselves.

Just as they did with the golden calf after God had delivered them from Egypt by such mighty works.

And now here they were, attributing their success to a new god they just made. Hm 🤔 sad. 😔 https://bible.com/bible/1/deu.8.17-18.KJV
