And Israel vowed a vow unto the LORD, and said, If thou wilt indeed deliver this people into my hand, then I will utterly destroy their cities. And the LORD hearkened to the voice of Israel, and delivered up the Canaanites; and they utterly destroyed them and their cities: and he called the name of the place Hormah.
Numbers 21:2-3 KJV COMMENTARY https://bible.com/bible/1/num.21.2-3.KJV
And the lord hearkened to their voice, why?
Because it tallied with the plan of God. They had aligned right with God.
The invasion of the promised land was God’s idea 💡 in the first place and now there comes a people who wanted the same thing as God.
And indeed it was further fueled ⛽ by the capture of their brethren.
It is interesting that God watched on as some of them, the chosen people of God were captured.
How? Impossible 🙅 God’s darling choice Israel 🇮🇱 captured?? 😳. Were they not doing the work Of God? Was not this whole journey sanctioned by Him. How could they be taken prisoners..?
And it would have remained so if they did nothing. It kinda aligns with the book of Acts when James was captured and nothing was done.
Then he was beheaded. Now Peter too was captured and constant prayers where offered for him by the church
Acts 12:5 KJV
Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him. https://bible.com/bible/1/num.21.2-3.KJV
And the people spake against God, and against Moses, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? for there is no bread, neither is there any water; and our soul loatheth this light bread.
Numbers 21:5 KJV COMMENTARY https://bible.com/bible/1/num.21.5.KJV
Could it be that some of the people actually died because of the difficulty of the journey and the lack of food and water 💦.
Very plausible and it might well have been a strategy to continue killing the people as the forty years drew nigh. https://bible.com/bible/1/num.21.5.KJV
So they smote him, and his sons, and all his people, until there was none left him alive: and they possessed his land.
Numbers 21:35 KJV COMMENTARY https://bible.com/bible/1/num.21.35.KJV
Hmm 🤔 interesting.
This time it was not captivity that triggered the war and victory but a direct attack.
Either ways God got himself the victory and his name glorified.
So in crises unexpected 😱 or pending doom, whatever the challenge its all for his glory.
Amen https://bible.com/bible/1/num.21.35.KJV
